Patterns and Unintended Effects

So far I have 6 on the list for patterns. As I get measurements I'll add them to the list!

Just a note on the pictures. NOBODY likes those pictures. They simply just aren't flattering to our bodies. Sorry about that - I don't want to start a rampant case of unhappiness with people's bodies. Remember, everybody is weird, everybody is a bit lumpy in places, and everybody is beautiful. :-) On line, we don't have the advantage of being 8 people all in the same boat in one living room, but we are *all* in the same boat.

Oh yes-- I am well aware that all the soft curves and gentle angles and graceful lines in the mirror become, when frozen by the flash and flattened onto film, ugly lumps and rolls and flops.
And nobody looks their best in a wifebeater and yoga pants, standing awkwardly and self-consciously up against a wall, with their hair scraped back and head and feet cut off. I defy you to photograph anyone attractively like that, even a professional model.
So I didn't mean to sound unhappy when I referred to them as "awful" pictures-- I actually was referring to the lighting, as I know it would be better to take that sort of photo in a shady spot outdoors on a sunny day, but it was pouring rain and the sky was black, so it was indoors up against a wall and the black shadows on the wall kind of fuzz into the black shorts I was wearing and make my ass look indistinctly lumpy. I mean, moreso than usual. ;)

If you do an online tutorial of the measuring process, it would be kind of nice to include a photo of the model all dolled up and looking normal, so people can be assured that it's just an unflattering procedure.

The photos you're asking for are not as embarrassing as the angiogram I had to endure back in 2005. A roomful of strangers (both men and women) standing around watching as they shaved me. Yeah, I'll do your pics any day over that!!

I'd go in for the pattern. I have my own patterning theory, but I'd love to try out your method.

What do you need?

Are you still taking requests? If so: What do you need from me?

All of the info is here: http://chargirlgenius.livejournal.com/457195.html

I have 10 or so sets of measurements so far - I'm planning on getting through two a week. So, it's several weeks out, but I'll need the measurements then just as much, to apply what I've learned in the first few weeks.

I was thinking of letting people see me (or a volunteer) in the unflattering picture, and then of the same person in the final dress. Ha-yooge difference.

You're not the only one to have remarked on it. I've heard a few people express dissatisfaction, and I don't want to spark dissatisfaction with people's bodies!

Yeah. Once you've been in the hospital, or had kids, all of your modesty has flown out of the window!

> final dress
Oh yeah, that'd make sense... that would be really good actually-- it would be great to have a few example pictures, too, to show how flattering the dress can be on very different body types. I know I love seeing that kind of thing, anyway. :)

Dude. I'm STILL going to the gym. ;)

nods. The only thing worse is to have your kids in a Teaching Hospital!
