Yep, it's generally known as "PTO" - Paid Time Off, and it doesn't discriminate between sick and vacation. I can see some benefits of it, but there are definite downsides. At my last two jobs, I've had PTO. I even worked for a few companies that gave you the time that you needed for being sick. When you were sick, you stayed home. There wasn't a limit (but they watched more closely to make sure you didn't abuse it).
