You're not really an LJ'er until you post about your cat
The boys are doing better, and we didn't get what they had. At one point, I was afraid we'd have take Eddie to the ER for dehydration, but he *finally* accepted a juice box, when NOTHING else would make him happy.
However, daycare is still not on the list of things they are happy about.
Facebook is kinda fun, but I'm not sure why I signed up when I don't even have time for LJ...
I keep getting requests for little applications like pillow fights, best friends, celebrity death match and such. They're all from friends, but I don't really know what they are. If I click accept, it says that the app will import/take my profile info. Are these a security risk? Can anybody give me a short explanation? Please don't be offended if I don't accept these, at least not for now.
I had one of those recurring dreams the other night that I hadn't done my homework. Trouble is, I woke up, and I really *hadn't* done my homework. Eek! I also totally forgot about class last night until four o'clock in the afternoon. I could have easily let it slip my mind. Next think you know, I'll have forgotten my locker combo, shown up to school naked, and realized that it's time for my final in a class I didn't know I'd signed up for. Ai!
My cat is a little love slut. She's SO snuggly. She just wants to be ON your lap. Always. Well, except for when the boys are awake, and then she's usually down in the basement. She tolerates them reasonably well, having little to no experience with kids before. Henry is in LOVE with her. He's totally gentle and patient, too, so I have hope for them becoming friends.
My one concern before her arrival was her interaction with the bird. Cat was curious about bird. Cat went in bird's room. Bird not impressed with Cat. Bird squawked and flapped wings obnoxiously. Cat ran. Cat won't go anywhere near Bird's room.
If you've been over to our house, I'm guessing you'll sympathise with Cat. I needn't have worried.

Kitty AWWWW.
Lady I worked with had a parrot and two cats. She would set the parrot down on the floor, and the parrot would walk around saying "HERE, kitty kitty kitty! HERE, kitty kitty! Kiss? *smooching noise* Kiss?" The cats PANICKED. They always treated this event as the arrival of Satan, and teleported out of the county whenever it happened. I think the bird is probably fine. :)

Now, George (bird) will meow at us. He's never lived with a bird once, but Jeff had a friend who taught him how to meow. It's a bit weird.
Yeah. George is a parrot. A cranky parrot. And Kali is a little kitty.

Some of the games are fun but who has time for it all? I played a few at the beginning. Now I just check once or twice a day to see if any of my friends are up to or posting anything interesting.
ah, cats and birds.... I remember when the Ex moved in with me and brought his double yellow Amazon. My girl cat looked at the bird then looked at me with such joy. I could hear her thoughts being sent to my brain "oh Mommy, you got me a bird! I have always wanted one! You are the best Mommy ever!" Then she and the bird came face to face and the bird nipped her paw and chased her down the hallway. Pooka (the cat I still have) had a similar experience with bird. Bird was perfectly safe with the cats, the cats had to beware of the bird!

I don't know about the risk factor. I've wondered myself.

Facebook is different from LJ in that it's not a blog. Basically, it's a good way of staying in touch with people quickly, and some use it to post pictures. :-)

You can also tack an RSS feed from your LJ to your Facebook, whereas your public posts will appear on FB. However, if you are uncomfortable with other people from your past finding more about you, I would counsel against it.
The thing that has made FB so popular is that it is very impersonal. Not like LJ at all.

I need to sit down and brush her well. I think it's been a while for her - she's shedding like crazy and very fluffy right now.

And, no, I won't be hurt if anyone doesn't accept.

And he Meows better than the cat.

And yes - I've heard the Bird meow. Impressive. I still sympathize with the Cat, though ;-)

I'm... uh... not entirely positive those are the exact words I would have used to describe your bird.
:D

And he will do this for other people, if you take the time to get to know him. He's just not a slut who puts out for anyone the second he meets them (like the cat). ;)

I installed battleboats, wordscraper, and a couple other word games; mostly I pay against college friends, and a friend in Northern Ire. and I are in a constant run of games of battleships.
yay kitty!

I now include Facebook in my catching-up set of tabs in my browser: I check email, then check LJ, then look at the "status updates" pane in my Facebook homepage. The status updates are nice because it's just little micro-updates and you can skim down pretty quick.
LOL @ the bird. Never kept birds, and that's why-- I can't cope with anything scarier than a cat!

I'm happy to hear that Kitty is doing well in her new environment!

Never had a house bird, but plenty of times I've seen the cat "kak kak" at the outside ones thru the window.
(Cat pictured above is currently curled up in the chair next to me, paw over face, sound asleep.)
-End obligitory cat post. :-)

I collect people on Facebook. No one I actively don't want to keep in touch with, but a whole bunch of people that I haven't kept in touch with otherwise. I'm not very active on FB, a lot less active than I am here, but I sometimes comment on what other people have posted, sometimes update my status, and sometimes use their not-quite-im thing to catch up with people who happen to be on FB at the same time I am.
