The boys are doing better, and we didn't get what they had. At one point, I was afraid we'd have take Eddie to the ER for dehydration, but he *finally* accepted a juice box, when NOTHING else would make him happy.

However, daycare is still not on the list of things they are happy about.

Facebook is kinda fun, but I'm not sure why I signed up when I don't even have time for LJ...

I keep getting requests for little applications like pillow fights, best friends, celebrity death match and such. They're all from friends, but I don't really know what they are. If I click accept, it says that the app will import/take my profile info. Are these a security risk? Can anybody give me a short explanation? Please don't be offended if I don't accept these, at least not for now.

I had one of those recurring dreams the other night that I hadn't done my homework. Trouble is, I woke up, and I really *hadn't* done my homework. Eek! I also totally forgot about class last night until four o'clock in the afternoon. I could have easily let it slip my mind. Next think you know, I'll have forgotten my locker combo, shown up to school naked, and realized that it's time for my final in a class I didn't know I'd signed up for. Ai!

My cat is a little love slut. She's SO snuggly. She just wants to be ON your lap. Always. Well, except for when the boys are awake, and then she's usually down in the basement. She tolerates them reasonably well, having little to no experience with kids before. Henry is in LOVE with her. He's totally gentle and patient, too, so I have hope for them becoming friends.

My one concern before her arrival was her interaction with the bird. Cat was curious about bird. Cat went in bird's room. Bird not impressed with Cat. Bird squawked and flapped wings obnoxiously. Cat ran. Cat won't go anywhere near Bird's room.

If you've been over to our house, I'm guessing you'll sympathise with Cat. I needn't have worried.

My ex has written to me again:
Kali and Leif need to move out soon-by the end of January. I'll try to get them into a no-kill shelter, but that may still be very difficult, especially for Leif. It appears that there's an interview process, which he may not pass. If I can't get them in somewhere that's no-kill, I'll have to take them to the SPCA, where they might not last. Let me know if you want to meet up for a handoff in the next couple of weeks.

Yep, Leif is a bit of a challenge, but the alternative isn't great for him. He's declawed in the front. Kali is also declawed, but a complete creampuff (who has lived with clawed kitties in the past).

Here are the original posts with details:

Please let me know if you're at all interested, or know somebody who might be. Jeff and I are both allergic. We just can't do this.

Thanks.

A little more detail on the cat personalities...

Kali is a lapcat. She was always snuggly, and still is. Windowsills are her heaven. She's little, so she can fit anywhere.

Leif, I didn't know him well, but here's what the ex says: "Leif will let me pet him without any incidents, little love bites if you hit his stomach. With strangers he likes to be petted but if you hit the wrong spot, he'll hiss and bite. They are still playful, with Leif chasing Kali around."

"Leif is about 16 lbs and Kali gained a little and is now 7-8 lbs."

Regarding other pets, I'm slowly remembering the past. For a year before the ex and I got married, Kali and I rented a room from a coworker of mine. She had two cats, and two cat-chasing cocker spaniels. Kali was skittish of all at first, but grew to the point of mutual grooming and friendship with the younger of the two cats. The other one was 19 and cranky, and wouldn't let anybody near her. The dogs always chased her, but I think she liked the attention. Eventually, she warmed up a bit. If they weren't chasing her, she'd creep out of her hiding spaces, sneak up behind one of them, and whack him on the butt with her paw, goading him to chase her. Yes, really.

Kali was the cat who found me, in '98. I'd just graduated from college, had a job, and was going to be doing the single career woman thing. I decided that I needed a cat for that to happen properly. One day, I met a friend for a picnic lunch, and shared this thought with her. Upon returning home, there was a kitty sitting on my front stoop. She was friendly, let me pet her, and was like velcro on my ankles. I picked her up, and checked with all of the neighbors, who had never seen her. I opened the door to my apartment, and she moved in.

The vet said that she was about 6 months to a year. I suspected that some college student had gotten a kitty, and wasn't able to take it home for the summer.

I suspect that Kali would be great with kids and other pets. Leif, maybe a little less so, but he would probably be fine with other cats. Dogs, well, no idea.

Just look at that icon. The cat is SMILING. He's a LOLcat star waiting to be discovered, by YOU!

But seriously, when my ex and I split, he took the cats. I was apartment hunting, and I couldn't find a cheap place that would take the cats. It worked out, because Jeff was allergic, and didn't particularly want to live with cats.

I just got an email from the ex. His new girlfriend, who moved in two months ago, is highly allergic. She's been medicating, and has shown no improvment. Both cats have been sequestered in the basement for the past two months. They've determined that the cats must go.

I would love to take them, but Jeff's allergic, I'm kind of allergic, and we have three not-particularly-cat-friendly critters in our house (Rose, Henry, Edward), and we have a bird. We don't need the complication, and it's just not a good home for two cats.

Leif (pictured) is four years old. He was a VERY playful kitty, and gave Kali hell. He's calmed down, and they're good buddies now, but the ex says he can still occasionally be a little sh!thead (waiting to find out what that means, exactly). I wouldn't have it any other way. We got him from a vet who was sheltering the mother. No health problems. Fixed, declawed front only.

Kali - 11 years old, give or take. She was a stray that found me just after I graduated from school. Sweet little thing. She never got heavier than 7 lbs, and has a little soprano voice that she likes to use in conversation. Light conversation, not all-night conversation, that is. She's still quite healthy, according to the ex. Fixed, declawed.

They both have all of their shots up to day, have no health problems, and are good cats. They get along well, mutual grooming and all of that. They would be best as a pair, but better to split them then to not be able to place them. They haven't been around other pets, so I'm not sure how they'd do. They're located near Coatesville, PA (just west of Philly a bit).

If you're willing, my ex is willing to kick in some dough for start up kitteh costs. If you're not in the Philly area, we'll figure out transport somehow, but not stick you with the cost.

CUTE KITTEHS! )
