Oh yes-- I am well aware that all the soft curves and gentle angles and graceful lines in the mirror become, when frozen by the flash and flattened onto film, ugly lumps and rolls and flops.
And nobody looks their best in a wifebeater and yoga pants, standing awkwardly and self-consciously up against a wall, with their hair scraped back and head and feet cut off. I defy you to photograph anyone attractively like that, even a professional model.
So I didn't mean to sound unhappy when I referred to them as "awful" pictures-- I actually was referring to the lighting, as I know it would be better to take that sort of photo in a shady spot outdoors on a sunny day, but it was pouring rain and the sky was black, so it was indoors up against a wall and the black shadows on the wall kind of fuzz into the black shorts I was wearing and make my ass look indistinctly lumpy. I mean, moreso than usual. ;)

If you do an online tutorial of the measuring process, it would be kind of nice to include a photo of the model all dolled up and looking normal, so people can be assured that it's just an unflattering procedure.
