It feels like Christmas is coming to an end. All of the family has just left to go home, so I'm cleaning up the house and putting bedrooms back in order. We're undecorating the tree, and taking down some of the decorations. With a live tree, especially a scrappy Viriginia pine from the back yard, three weeks has been more than enough "up time". We both go back to work tomorrow.

Once Christmas is over, I'm done with winter, and ready for spring. The weather is cooperating in my little fantasy - it's 71 degrees out and the windows are thrown wide open. I can has garden nao?

And Good Yule, and a Happy Hanukkah to all!

It's been a laid back day. Family is coming in tomorrow evening, so today was just us. For Christmas Eve dinner, we had seared tuna with dipping sauce, saffron rice with shrimp, asparagus, salad, and crusty bread. It was fabulous, festive, Luana could eat it, and we started cooking less than an hour ahead of time. WIN.

I *did* forget to think about dessert ahead of time, so we rummaged through the freezer and cupboards, and I whipped up a blueberry cobbler. The can of cherries was somehow 15 years old... o.O

Luana put the boys to bed (Jeff and I have NO luck with getting them to nap) and I brought up the family presents and put them under the tree. Henry woke up and has been investigating, and now we're just waiting for Eddie to wake up. We were sitting under the tree, drinking eggnog, and Henry says, "I love Eddie, SO MUCH." I can't write the expression in his voice. Aww.

We'll do presents, probably watch Wall-E (which is under the tree right now), eat some popcorn and a small dinner, and head to the family candlelight service. Santa presents are tomorrow. I figure if we spread it all out, the presents will be easier for them to handle. When we were buying everything, it all seemed like so much, but by the time we divided it between the two of them, and between family vs. Santa presents, it hardly seems like anything at all.

Merry Christmas, all. May you all have angst free family visits, and wonderful days.

It's getting to be time for Christmas shopping. I was hoping to use today to do a little online shopping for the boys, but I'm feeling uninspired. I want to get *cool* stuff, but stuff that's not very big, not too age advanced, and not just plastic junk. Although, I think all they really want is plastic junk - especially if it makes noise. I suspect they might love this police helmet and steering wheel set, but it takes a ton of batteries, and smacks of one of those things that can only be played with in one way. It's more of a toy that you get for your friends' kids, because it'll likely give them a headache.... ::evil::

Henry has said that he want a helicopter, spaceship, robot, and airplane. Maybe I should just keep it simple and get non-interactive, non-battery powered, non-remote control versions of those. He saw some fancy remote control ones in the target catalog that caught his eye.

So, discerning parents on my f-list (which is all of the parents on my flist), what do you think the coolest toys out there are for a 2.5 and 3.5 year old? So far, I'm planning a few DVDs, Christmas jammies, a bag of guitar picks for Eddie (he's always losing them), and a bike and helmet for Eddie. We already have a lot of puzzles, and too many train tracks.
