I took some pictures of the arming cote last night and the night before, but I don’t have a lot of time to add construction explanation. I have a lot more pictures between the last I posted and these, but I’ll get them up eventually. Or, maybe I’ll just do a “POOF! Something Magical Happens Here!”

Hee hee!

Don’t worry! He WILL be wearing pants! Well, hose.

This was trying it on with both sleeves attached, but not finished on the inside, so they’re a tad lumpy. He’s also missing all of his chest padding. I also want to stitch around all of the seams to flatten them out a bit, but that’ll have to happen *after* this weekend.

There are also eyelets still to be inserted at the neck and at the bottom.

With the maille hauberk. He can’t put his arms all the way down, but that’s more because the maille shirt is a bit tight with all of the extra padding. He can, I believe, also wear it without the maille for the day.

Laid flat. Now I grok why the pictures of the CdB laid flat always look so weird.

The cuff finishing:

The lower sleeve and cuff opening. This still needs eyelets. The original CdB was open to the elbow with buttons, but that was a civilian garment. There’s no reason to have laces above where the wrist is so tight, so I wanted to avoid more eyelets. I also want to avoid too long of laces so that the armor has less to catch on.

The inside at the side slit (near the hip). This is where I bound the inner seam because there wasn’t enough seam allowance to do a decent flat fell. Or rather, I really didn’t want to cut anything off.

Where the arm meets the side seam, the inside. I still have to extend those quilting lines to the seam:

Where the arm meets the back, and the inside of the neckline:

Finishing the inside seams of the second sleeve. Pinned the body panels and seam allowance so they will be inside of the sleeve. I’ll fold the sleeve S/A in and pin again and sew.

Those sleeves came out so good - they're so complicated!

You'd think he'd look happier about all the work you've done. :-)

I rarely smile in photos - especially when exhausted. :|

Whoa!!! Whatever else I expected, it never even crossed my mind how hot that thing would look on!!! And I'm not talking about the temperature! Nice work!
I am going to have to investigate this fashion a bit more, hmm, yes indeed!
(Yeah it would probably look better with pants, too, but it gives a really awesome shape to the torso. Not that said torso doesn't have a good shape of its own I'm sure. But you know. Sorry, low on coherence at this hour.)
Effin gorgeous, lady. All your work was totally worth it just for the eyecandy. ;)

It's funny, I ended up using every seam from the originals to get them to fit the way I wanted to.

Heh. Are you objectifying my husband? ;-) (I do it all the time...)

My favorite is a full on side shot. The lower body is pulled in SO tight, and once it's padded, their chests are all puffed out like a peacock.

Thank you. :-)

Wow. Well, it adds to the intimidating warrior look. (And I guess you need an intimidating look if you have no pants . . . ) ;-)

Holy crap, that's amazing. It's also downright amazing that you finished that.

But do there have to be pants?

Well, only if you count hosen (sans codpiece) as pants!

Pant-less...I see.

Remember, once is a mistake twice is a design element.. or a disturbing habit...I'm not sure which.

The arming doublet is excellent!
