Just look at that icon. The cat is SMILING. He's a LOLcat star waiting to be discovered, by YOU!

But seriously, when my ex and I split, he took the cats. I was apartment hunting, and I couldn't find a cheap place that would take the cats. It worked out, because Jeff was allergic, and didn't particularly want to live with cats.

I just got an email from the ex. His new girlfriend, who moved in two months ago, is highly allergic. She's been medicating, and has shown no improvment. Both cats have been sequestered in the basement for the past two months. They've determined that the cats must go.

I would love to take them, but Jeff's allergic, I'm kind of allergic, and we have three not-particularly-cat-friendly critters in our house (Rose, Henry, Edward), and we have a bird. We don't need the complication, and it's just not a good home for two cats.

Leif (pictured) is four years old. He was a VERY playful kitty, and gave Kali hell. He's calmed down, and they're good buddies now, but the ex says he can still occasionally be a little sh!thead (waiting to find out what that means, exactly). I wouldn't have it any other way. We got him from a vet who was sheltering the mother. No health problems. Fixed, declawed front only.

Kali - 11 years old, give or take. She was a stray that found me just after I graduated from school. Sweet little thing. She never got heavier than 7 lbs, and has a little soprano voice that she likes to use in conversation. Light conversation, not all-night conversation, that is. She's still quite healthy, according to the ex. Fixed, declawed.

They both have all of their shots up to day, have no health problems, and are good cats. They get along well, mutual grooming and all of that. They would be best as a pair, but better to split them then to not be able to place them. They haven't been around other pets, so I'm not sure how they'd do. They're located near Coatesville, PA (just west of Philly a bit).

If you're willing, my ex is willing to kick in some dough for start up kitteh costs. If you're not in the Philly area, we'll figure out transport somehow, but not stick you with the cost.

These pics are all over four years old. I'm trying to get some more recent ones from the ex.

Here's Leif, as a teenager kitty. This was shortly before I left, so I don't have any pictures of him older than this. My ex's toe is not included. I had not yet discovered the joy of photoshop.

both cute and very desirable and will be a a new home(s) very quickly. Not ours tho as we just put our 8yr old Scout to sleep today; she was very ill w/things such as kidney disease and liver issues. She will be missed by all in our house including Casey and her sister/litter mate Muggles

The ex said that he'd provide $500 for startup costs, but of course food, litter, etc. will cost as time goes on.

my thought exactly...well, and I don't really have space for 2 cats in the current home, and when I get cats, I want 2 of 'em.

They're cuties! We can't take them - besides just filling our "slot", they're declawed. Just wouldn't work with 2 clawed kitties.

Good luck!

Totally understand. I was just thinking about you filling your brood.

I'd forgotten, but Kali and I had roommates to the tune of 1 human, 2 kitties, and 2 cocker spaniels, and the clawed/declawed thing wasn't really an issue. I'm not trying to talk you into anything, but rather mention it in case it's a concern for anybody else.

Oddly, when I've mixed clawed/declawed kitties, it was a problem - because the declawed kitties would kick the sh*t out of the four-wheel-drive kitties.

But it makes sense. Think of it this way: you and your friend each grew up practicing swordfighting, but one of you grew up in a group that uses live steel and the other grew up in a group that uses Nerf swords. Who hits harder? Who hits more carefully and tentatively?

Anyway, my 4WD cats got their *asses* handed to them. Daily.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, and with Yates's health problems we just don't need more aggressors in the house.

I've also heard that declawed cats tend to be biters more often than clawed cats, since that's their only weapon.

That could be why Leif is a bit on the nibbly side, but it could also be his personality. I remember him like that, and the ex had him declawed after I left. It could have prevented him from growing out of it.

In any case, Kali is not a biter, and isn't aggressive with clawed kitties.

Yeah, nibbly kittens are pretty common, especially when they get over stimulated. We met a couple of 1 and 2 year olds (still clawed) who hadn't grown out of it, yet, either. How old was he when he was declawed?

I remember those two. They were so cute.

I am just *not* going from five to seven cats, but I'll ask around here.
