It's official. I'm a mom to boys. Henry woke me up this morning with the help of a big katydid*. (In a jar, thankfully!) Not long now, and I'll be finding frogs in their pockets, and drowned salamanders in the laundry.

*If you clicked through to the picture, I'm well aware that's not the same variety of katydid that he brought, but it's what it FELT it looked like as the first thing I saw upon opening my eyes...

I still remember my prim grandmother's reaction when I proudly brought a katydid into her house. I have never heard her screech so loud (nor ever since). Fun!

...I hear ya. My little brother when he was about 4 was out in the yard collecting Loc ust shells (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.sheltoweetrace.com/gallery/albums/album13/Cicada_locust_shell_01.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.sheltoweetrace.com/gallery/slideshow.php%3Fmode%3Dlow%26set_albumName%3D&usg=__AxsNW-WRbbGcWSkwWwgTt_d-ZQ0=&h=1059&w=1600&sz=169&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=o7vBOOGqJ5KluM:&tbnh=99&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3DLocust%2BShell%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1). He came in and put one about 4 inches from my face on my chest while I was sleeping then proceeded to climb up next to my ear and whisper "Ryan...be still, there's a bug on your chest." I think the *neighbors* heard me waking up when the first thing I saw was some kind of extraterrestrial brain-eating bug with big glassy eyes right under my chin. :-P
