My Jeanne de Laval hood + pointy hat = a perfectly good hennin and lappet set that stays put on my head.

Of course, I'm going to make another hood with the necessary adjustments to make it look more like this, but that takes a half hour. Really.

I really should do a better than buckram, wire, and some thin pieces of wood kludge version of a hennin, but it'll have to do.

Why? My hennin are made with duct tape and buckram and wire.

That's about what mine's going to look like, too. The hood works really well for lappets. Except for construction I actually went with the buckram/duct tape suggestion! I just couldn't face stitching it together. I think I will have enough time to sew some millinery wire to it to make it sturdier, but other than that, it's the quick-and-dirty for me!

I have some kevlar around here somewhere. You could have a hat tougher than the armor some of the fighters wear. ;)
