How a Boy Shall be Dressed at his Ease

Lily pictures are forthcoming, but in the meantime...
We start with braies and chausses (or hose). The chausses are pointed, or tied, to the braies. This is more of a 14th century style on an adult, but for a child it is MUCH easier to deal than full joined hose pointed to a doublet.

The chausses are a bit big, but they're for growing in to.

Over all of that, he wears a white linen shirt to protect his clothes from his skin and vice versa.

He wears a simple tunic over that, as it's easier for visits to the privy, but can you tell he really wants a doublet? Mama'd better get on that.

He now puts on his gown, belt, hat, and pattens. Again, he should have shoes, but we're too cheap to buy shoes for them every year.

Such a ham.
